30 Year Old Woman Gangraped in Palghar, Three Accused Arrested

A 30-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped in the Nalasopara area of the Palghar district in Maharashtra. According to ANI, the Achole Police Station has registered a case under sections 376D (gang rape), 376(2)(g) (gang rape causing death or persistent vegetative state), and 342 (wrongful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code, based on the victim’s complaint.

The police have arrested three accused—Narendra Morya (31), Prakash Singh (26), and Panchraj Singh (35)—in connection with the case. The accused were presented in court and have been remanded to police custody for five days.

This incident comes close on the heels of another sexual assault case reported on September 7, wherein a 44-year-old rickshaw driver allegedly molested a 15-year-old girl on her way to school in Mumbai’s Borivali area. The driver fled the scene when the girl protested, the police said. The MHB police registered a case and, after a five-day search, arrested the accused from the Nalasopara area of the Palghar district on Friday.
