Exclusive footage obtained by News Media reveals crucial evidence in the tragic case of a trainee doctor’s death at a Kolkata hospital. The CCTV footage, captured at RG Kar Hospital, shows Sanjay Roy, a civic volunteer now in custody, entering the hospital premises on the night of August 9, the same night the crime occurred.
The footage marks the first concrete visual evidence connecting Roy to the crime. In the video, Roy is seen dressed casually in jeans and a t-shirt, carrying a helmet—a standard issue for Kolkata Police officials. Notably, a Bluetooth device visible around Roy’s neck matches the one later found at the crime scene and is now a central piece of evidence in the ongoing investigation.
The 31-year-old postgraduate trainee doctor was discovered dead in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital the morning after her shift, having been subjected to severe violence. The discovery sparked widespread outrage, with doctors and medical staff nationwide staging protests and halting work to demand justice.
Psychological profiling of Roy reveals disturbing traits: a strong addiction to pornography, predatory behavior, and a lack of remorse. According to a CBI official, Roy provided a detailed account of the crime without any sign of regret. Additionally, a significant amount of pornographic material was found on his mobile phone.
Before the case was transferred to the CBI by the Calcutta High Court, Kolkata Police identified Roy near the chest department ward on August 8. Reports suggest that Roy visited a known red-light area in North Kolkata after midnight, exhibiting intoxicated behavior and inappropriate requests for explicit images.
The footage also shows Roy re-entering the hospital early on August 9, with technical evidence confirming his presence during crucial times related to the crime.
