New Delhi: Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan has made a notable entry into the 2024 Hurun India Rich List. Khan’s substantial wealth, totaling Rs 7,300 crore, reflects not only his success in cinema but also his significant stakes in the Kolkata Knight Riders IPL team and Red Chillies Entertainment. This marks his debut on the list, which tracks the wealth of India’s richest individuals. The 13th edition of this annual list provides a snapshot of wealth as of July 31, 2024.
Khan, aged 58, leads social media with 44.1 million followers on X, making him the most followed celebrity in this year’s rankings, followed by Hrithik Roshan with 32.3 million.
In a major shift, Gautam Adani has surpassed Mukesh Ambani to claim the top position on the list with an astounding wealth of Rs 11.6 lakh crore. The Hurun India Rich List highlights a remarkable growth in India’s billionaire population, which surged by 29% to reach 334 individuals, a stark contrast to the decline seen in China.
Anas Rahman Junaid, Founder and Chief Researcher of Hurun India, remarked, “India is becoming Asia’s wealth creation hub. The list reflects diverse wealth creators, including family businesses, startup founders, and film stars, illustrating the dynamic nature of India’s economy.”
The report notes significant wealth growth among several billionaires, with Gautam Adani’s fortunes rising eightfold since 2020, and Kumar Mangalam Birla also showing substantial increases. India’s billionaire count has grown sixfold since the list’s inception 13 years ago, underscoring the country’s expanding economic influence.
