2 Army Officers Attacked, Female Friend Gang-Raped in Madhya Pradesh

Indore, September 11, 2024 – A horrific incident unfolded near the historic Jam Gate, approximately 50 kilometers from Indore, when two Army officers and their female friends were brutally attacked during a late-night drive. One of the women was gang-raped at gunpoint by a group of men, while both Army officers sustained injuries in the assault.

According to law enforcement officials, the tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday. The group had driven to Ahilya Gate near Jam Gate, a popular tourist and picnic spot known for its scenic views, when they were ambushed by six to seven assailants. Additional SP Rupesh Dwivedi confirmed that six suspects have been identified, and two of them have been detained from the nearby jungles.

Attack Details

As per the complaint filed by one of the officers, the group arrived at the location around 2:30 AM. One of the Army officers and his female companion remained in the car, while the other officer and woman ventured onto a nearby hillock. It was at this time that the attackers struck, holding the pair in the car at gunpoint. They demanded a ransom of ₹10 lakh from the second officer, who used the opportunity to contact his senior officers, alerting the authorities.

By the time the police arrived from Mhow, approximately 30 kilometers away, the attackers had fled into the forest. The victims were taken to Mhow Civil Hospital, where a medical examination confirmed that one of the women had been gang-raped. Both Army officers were treated for injuries sustained during the attack.

Ongoing Investigation

SP Rural Hitika Vasal stated that the two Army officers are undergoing the Young Officers course at the Infantry School in Mhow. The police have registered cases under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including gang-rape, dacoity, extortion, and causing hurt, along with sections of the Arms Act.

A large police force, comprising personnel from four police stations, was dispatched to comb the jungles near Chhoti Jaam village, leading to the detention of two suspects.

The investigation is ongoing, and efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining attackers.
