Atishi Marlena Becomes Delhi’s New Chief Minister, Swati Maliwal Criticizes Move

New Delhi: In a surprising political development, Atishi Marlena has been appointed as the new Chief Minister of Delhi. However, the appointment has drawn sharp criticism from former AAP leader and current Rajya Sabha MP, Swati Maliwal. Taking to social media, Maliwal expressed her disappointment and questioned the decision to appoint Atishi.

On platform X (formerly Twitter), Swati Maliwal posted, “A tragic day for Delhi. A woman whose family once fought to save convicted terrorist Afzal Guru has been made the Chief Minister of the capital. Her parents filed mercy petitions to prevent Guru’s execution.”

Maliwal did not stop there, further labeling Atishi as a “dummy CM” and emphasizing that her family’s history makes this a concerning matter for the country’s security. “Atishi may only be a puppet CM, but her background is a matter of national security. May God protect Delhi.”

Political Tensions Rise

This exchange is the latest in a series of public spats between Atishi and Maliwal. The two have clashed before, particularly when Maliwal accused Atishi of mishandling an internal issue involving Maliwal’s former assistant, Vibhav Roy. At the time, Atishi accused Maliwal of illegal recruitment practices and being part of a conspiracy against former CM Arvind Kejriwal.

Maliwal’s latest comments come at a time when Delhi’s political landscape is already tense, and her remarks are expected to fuel further debates in the city’s corridors of power.

In contrast, Atishi has refrained from responding directly to Maliwal’s criticism, focusing instead on her agenda for Delhi’s development.
