Vijayawada:A hidden camera was discovered in the washroom of a girls’ hostel in Andhra Pradesh, leading to widespread outrage. The incident occurred at Gudlavalleru College of Engineering in Krishna district. Upon learning about the hidden camera, students staged a protest within the college campus, demanding the arrest of the accused.
The police arrested Vijay Kumar, a final-year B.Tech student at the college. They also seized his phone and laptop. It has been reported that videos of the female students were recorded and sold through the hidden camera. According to the police, around 300 photos and videos have already been leaked. Media reports indicate that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has ordered an investigation into the matter.
The accused student, Vijay Kumar, is in police custody, accused of selling more than 300 videos.
College Management Tried to Conceal the Incident
According to media reports, the college management was informed about the hidden camera a week ago but did not take any action. On Thursday, the female students began protesting, chanting slogans and demanding justice. In an attempt to prevent the media from reporting the protest, the college management locked the gates. However, the students continued their protest late into the night, prompting the police to get involved.
Female students on the college campus used their mobile phone flashlights and chanted “We want justice.”
Girlfriend Blackmailed to Install Camera in Hostel Washroom
Some reports claim that Vijay was aided by a female student in hiding the camera in the girls’ washroom. Neither the police nor the college administration has confirmed the identity of the girl involved. However, a photo of Vijay with a girl, alleged to be his girlfriend, has gone viral on social media, with claims that she was the one who hid the camera.
Media reports suggest that Vijay initially recorded a video of his girlfriend in an OYO room. He then blackmailed her, with the help of his friends, into installing the camera in the hostel. After the incident came to light, state minister Nara Lokesh ordered an investigation into the case.
