Man Who Assaulted Air Hostess in Gurugram Hospital ICU Caught After 4-Day Hunt

GURUGRAM: In a shocking incident, a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman inside the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a Gurugram hospital has finally been arrested. The police confirmed today that the suspect, Deepak, was caught in Gurugram after a four-day manhunt.

Deepak, a 25-year-old technician who had been working at the hospital for the past five months, is originally from Badhauli village in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district.

Catching him wasn’t easy — the Special Investigation Team (SIT), along with eight special police teams, worked around the clock, scanning through footage from nearly 800 CCTV cameras and speaking with hospital staff to gather clues.

The horrifying incident happened on April 6 at Medanta Hospital, where a 46-year-old woman, an air hostess by profession, was receiving emergency treatment. She had been on ventilator support at the time of the assault and was too weak to defend herself. Shockingly, she alleged that two nurses were in the room but did nothing to stop it.

It wasn’t until April 13, after she was discharged from the hospital, that she gathered the courage to share what had happened with her husband, who immediately alerted the police.

A formal complaint was registered at Sadar Police Station the next day. In response, Medanta Hospital released a statement saying they were fully cooperating with the investigation and had suspended the accused employee once his identity was confirmed.

“This is a very serious matter, and we have taken immediate action against the staff member involved,” the hospital stated.

The woman had been admitted to Medanta on April 5 for emergency care and was kept on a ventilator for over a week. The assault reportedly took place a day after her admission.

The investigation is still ongoing, and authorities are now looking into how such a breach of safety could have happened in a critical care unit.
