Taapsee Pannu, who recently launched her production company called Outsider Films, takes pride in being an outsider in the film industry. However, in a candid conversation with ANI, Taapsee acknowledged an important quality she admires in those who come from film families—one that outsiders like herself often miss out on.
TAAPSEE COMMENDS THE UNITY AMONG STAR KIDS
“Contrary to what many might think, there’s something positive about those who have family connections in the industry—whether it’s parents, siblings, or other relatives. These so-called ‘nepo kids’ or those who are seen as products of nepotism have something that I’ve observed and learned from: their ability to stay united, support one another, and stand by each other,” Taapsee remarked.
TAAPSEE ON THE INSECURITIES OF OUTSIDERS
“We, as outsiders, are often caught up in the struggle, the hustle, and the race to get ahead. While we do respect each other, and we might send a message when we see each other’s films, there’s this underlying insecurity. Whether the film is good or bad, the vibe of standing by one another, of unwavering support—this is something more common among industry kids than among us outsiders. Deep down, we might feel a bit insecure about each other, which is more prevalent among us than among those with industry connections. Our mindset has been shaped by competition. But one thing I’ve personally noticed is their unity—they’ll recommend each other, stand by each other, and be there for one another. It’s something we outsiders could definitely learn from,” Taapsee added.
Taapsee was recently seen in Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba and Khel Khel Mein. Her upcoming project is Woh Ladki Hai Kahaan. Under her production house, Outsider Films, she has produced two films—Blurr (2022) and Dhak Dhak (2023).
