Bengaluru – A shocking incident in Bengaluru has led to widespread outrage after the dismembered body of 29-year-old Mahalakshmi was discovered in 30 pieces inside an apartment. Mahalakshmi, who had separated from her husband, was reportedly in a relationship with a man named Ashraf. Ashraf, originally from Uttarakhand, worked at a barbershop in the Nelamangala area of Bengaluru.
Mahalakshmi’s husband, Hemant Das, told the media that she had come to visit their daughter last month but had since been living with Ashraf in the apartment. Hemant added that Ashraf and Mahalakshmi had filed a complaint against him, which had prevented him from visiting Bengaluru.
The crime came to light when neighbors noticed a foul smell coming from the apartment. Upon breaking the door, police found the gruesome scene of Mahalakshmi’s body cut into 30 pieces. While the police have launched an investigation, disturbing images from the crime scene have been circulated on social media, though they cannot be shared publicly due to their horrific nature.
Political and Communal Tensions Rise
The incident has sparked political controversy, with the BJP accusing the ruling Congress government of not taking adequate steps to curb crimes related to “love jihad.” There are fears that the case could inflame communal tensions in the region.
Police Investigation and Hunt for the Accused
Police have identified the prime suspect and are actively searching for him. Bengaluru Police Commissioner Daya Nand confirmed that the accused is not a local, but further details cannot be shared as it may compromise the investigation.
Mahalakshmi’s husband has alleged that Ashraf is behind her murder. He also revealed that Mahalakshmi had filed a blackmail case against Ashraf some time ago, which had led to rising tensions between them. The police are investigating all possible angles and expect an arrest soon.
