In Ranchi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a protest against Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s government at Morhabadi Ground. The BJP has accused the state government of failing to fulfill its promises made during the 2019 Assembly elections regarding unemployment benefits and job creation.
To contain the protesters, the administration set up barricades and deployed barbed wire around Morhabadi Ground. Despite these measures, BJP workers breached the barricades and attempted to march towards the Chief Minister’s residence. In response, police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse the crowd.
The protesters tried to advance towards the CM House but were stopped near the T.O.P. (Tactical Operations Post). In anticipation of further unrest, security around the CM House was heightened with additional barricades and a heavy police presence.
BJP’s state president, Babulal Marandi, criticized the government’s actions on social media, stating, “Barbed wire is being used to prevent unemployed youth, which is unprecedented. Such measures are inhumane and disgraceful. This government’s actions will only escalate the discontent among the youth, who might vote them out in the upcoming elections.”
