In Jharkhand’s Dumka, a 20-year-old married woman was brutally murdered by her lover, who has been identified through a tattoo on the victim’s body. The woman, a mother of one, had been involved in an extramarital affair with the accused, Pawan Kumar, for the past 18 months.
The incident came to light on August 9, when police discovered a partially burnt body by the roadside in the Masanjor police station area. The woman had been strangled with a dupatta by Kumar, who then set the body on fire to conceal the crime. The police investigation led to Kumar’s arrest on Tuesday. He was captured in the Mohanpur police station area of Devgarh district.
According to Dumka Superintendent of Police Pitamber Singh Kherwar, the identification of the accused was made possible through a tattoo of his name on the victim’s hand. The woman had reportedly been pressuring Kumar to marry her, but he was unwilling. This led to an argument, which escalated to the murder.
The SP mentioned that the woman’s husband is unemployed, adding to the tragic circumstances surrounding the case.
