Tragic Incident on Route from Pokhara to Kathmandu in Tanahun District

A devastating accident occurred in Nepal’s Tanahun district on Friday when a bus carrying tourists from Uttar Pradesh plunged into the Marsyangdi River. The bus, which was traveling from Pokhara to Kathmandu, crashed into the river, resulting in at least 15 fatalities. Several passengers are still missing.

The ill-fated bus, which was registered with Gorakhpur’s Kesharwani Travels, was transporting 42 people, including the driver, Mortaza, who was also from Gorakhpur and did not survive. The passengers were all from Maharashtra.

Details of the Accident

According to Tanahun’s SP Birendra Shahi, the bus fell into the river at Ain Pehra in Ambukhaireini, Ward No. 2. Emergency response teams, including local police and the army, are at the scene conducting rescue operations. The bus had the registration number UP-53 FT 7633.

Rescue efforts are ongoing, with local authorities reporting that 15 bodies have been recovered so far. The search continues for the remaining passengers, with approximately 25 individuals still unaccounted for.

The bus was booked through Kesharwani Travels, located near Babina Hotel in Gorakhpur. The tourists began their journey in Allahabad, traveling through Chitrakoot and Gorakhpur before heading to Nepal. A total of three buses were chartered for this trip, carrying a group of 110 tourists. The bus involved in the accident had 42 passengers onboard.
