Polygraph Test on Sanjay Roy Reveals Inconsistencies in Statements: Kolkata Rape-Murder Case Update

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a polygraph test on Sanjay Roy, the key suspect in the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-murder case. The results indicated that Roy provided “false and unconvincing” responses to questions regarding his claims of innocence, according to investigators on Sunday. The test was administered at Kolkata’s Presidency Jail by a pair of designated officers, as reported by Rohit Khanna.

Controversy arose when Roy’s state-appointed defense lawyer accused the CBI of conducting the polygraph test without informing the defense, which she claimed was a violation of the National Human Rights Commission’s guidelines. “The CBI did not notify us about the timing of the test. They should have allowed us to be present during the proceedings,” she stated.

According to CBI sources, Roy appeared “unnerved and anxious” during the two-hour questioning session. Despite being confronted with forensic evidence linking him to the crime, Roy maintained his innocence, offering various “alibis” during the polygraph test. He alleged that he discovered the victim already deceased and fled the scene out of fear.

The polygraph test results have further complicated Roy’s defense, raising doubts about his claims in the ongoing investigation of the tragic death of a 31-year-old junior doctor.
